About Dr. Sarika Shah-Sekhon

Dr. Sarika Shah-Sekhon is a hospitalist and nocturnist specializing in primary care and internal medicine. As a hospitalist, Dr. Shah- Sekhon is responsible for patient care assessments and admissions for medical, mental health and intensive care units. She ensures that diagnosis and treatment are addressed promptly while coordinating care across numerous specialists. This leads to better patient outcomes, shorter hospital stays, and more effective communication among the various healthcare providers involved in a patient’s care.

Dr. Sekhon has served the rural communities of upstate New York in Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Plattsburg, and Massena for the past 16 years. She is passionate about her work and providing patient care, with a focus on primary care outpatient medication and inpatient

Dr. Shah-Sekhon currently practices at several healthcare facilities. She is an Outpatient Internal Medicine Clinician with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs in Potsdam, a Nocturnist Internal Medicine at Rochester Regional Health in Massena and in Ogdensburg

NY with North Star Health Alliance, and a Clinical Supervisor for Advanced Practice Providers at Statline Medical Services. She also provides inpatient medical and telehealth services thru Sekhon Allied Health.

Her previous positions included internal medicine clinician, advanced care provider supervisor, and outpatient internal medicine clinician, and she was employed at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center- CHMC. She also currently serves as the Medical Director for Massena Rehabilitation Center and the Plattsburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Additionally, Dr. Sarika Shah-Sekhon was one of the founders of Sarika Diversified, LLC, a medical data processing and billing company founded in Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Shah-Sekhon has an impressive background in medical research. She collaborated on Immunogenetics, Immunosuppression, Xenotransplantation, and Ethics research at the Harvard University School of Medicine Immunobiology Research Center at Beth Israel DeaconessCenter, Department of Surgery in Boston, Massachusetts. She was also involved in research with Dr. H Deihl from Loma Linda University with the Coronary Health Improvement Program (CHIP), which is a lifestyle intervention program that helps improve coronary health.
